Everything from your destination wedding invitations to your dress to the perfect spot for the ceremony must be considered for jet-setting nuptials. Style is, of course, a major wow factor for these types of getaways, so be sure to keep these trendy ideas in mind if you are traveling for your wedding:
Wedding dress criteria
You’re going to need a gown that travels well, is lightweight and comfortable. Getting married on the beach might be better paired airy fabrics like chiffon so you are feeling easy and breezy. You might also want to go easy on the beading or other heavy materials so the dress stays light and unwrinkled during the trip. Oftentimes, I’ve discovered that destination weddings take place outdoors, so be sure to choose shoes that correspond with the terrain (i.e., sandals if your nuptials take place on the beach).
Highlight your trip on the wedding invitations
You’ll want your beach wedding invitations to clearly state that travel is involved, which means you should mail out those save the dates and invitations a bit earlier than normal. That way, people have plenty of time to search for flights and lodging. No one likes booking at the last minute!
Include something from the region or country
Are you tying the knot at a European vineyard? A bottle of wine or olive oil that was served at your wedding could make a wonderful favor. You may hand out decadent and delicious macadamia nuts or leis if you are having a Hawaiian ceremony, or local postcards could double as place settings for your guests during the reception.
