We recommend choosing a date that’s 2-4 weeks before your wedding date. Why? You might give a respond by date but that doesn’t mean everyone will actually respond by then. You need at least a week before the caterer needs your guest count to call, email or text anyone who hasn’t responded. Check with your wedding venue and caterer for their requirements and give yourself at least a week between your RSVP date and the date your venue and caterer need a guest count. Contacting guests who haven’t responded means you can get an accurate head count for the venue and caterer.
Do you know what RSVP stands for? It’s short for “Répondez s’il vous plait,” which means “please respond” in French. Using the acronym RSVP is simply a tradition but choosing the right respond by date is an important decision when personalizing your wedding invitation ensemble.
