Destination Wedding Timeline
Keep yourself on track! When planning a successful wedding celebration, it’s important to get tasks done on time. No doubt you have every intention to get your wedding invitations out on time but have you thought about all the other stationery pieces you’ll be sending? Here’s the timeline you need to know what to send and when to send.
We’ve based our timeline on the average one-year engagement so feel free to make adjustments according to the length of your own engagement.
Engagement Party Invitations
Celebrate with friends and family! Get engagement party invitations out ASAP after the proposal. You can find some really nice designs from our friends at Invitations by Dawn.
Save the Dates
Order and send save the dates 9-12 months before the wedding. Planning a destination wedding? Send save the dates a year or more in advance. We suggest reading How to Word Your Save the Dates before personalizing your favorite design.
Thank You Cards
Order your thank you cards 5-6 months in advance. This seems early but you’ll want thank you notes handy as you start receiving gifts early in the mail. You can also use them for pre-wedding festivities like bridal showers.
Order Wedding Invitations
Order your wedding invitations at least 4 months before the wedding. This will give you time to assemble and address the invitations. We suggest reading “How to Word Your Wedding Invitations” before you order.
Assemble and Address Wedding Invitations
Start assembling and addressing the invitations at least 3 months in advance. Take your time and double check your work! Ann’s offers an addressing service for all invitations and save the dates if you want to save some serious time.
Mail Wedding Invitations
Mail your wedding invitations 2 months before the wedding. Remember, the RSVP date on your response cards should be two weeks or more before the wedding date.
Rehearsal Dinner Invitations
Mail the rehearsal dinner invitations one month in advance. Include ceremony rehearsal information with the dinner invitations for the necessary people. Head over to Invitations by Dawn for some awesome rehearsal dinner invitations!
You have up to 3 months after the wedding to get your thank you cards in the mail. Don’t wait until the last minute! Thank you notes should be handwritten, however they don’t have to be long. Read How to Word Your Thank You Notes to learn more.
