How to Word Engagement Party Invitations

You’re engaged. ENGAGED! Now, of course your mind is on the wedding, but wait. First, you must celebrate your engagement. This is such a happy and exciting time, and it’s the perfect excuse to those a party.

When you begin to word your engagement party invitation, there are some vital pieces of information that you must include. Others are helpful, but not necessary. Here are the rules of wording engagement party invitations, plus helpful examples, depending on what type of party you’re throwing. Go ahead and copy them, we don’t mind!

ENGAGEMENT PARTY INVITATION WORDING: THE MUSTS

There are 3 things every engagement party invitation must include:

THE COUPLE’S NAMES

It might feel like an obvious piece of information, but it’s easy to forget you names! First names, last names, heck you can even include your middle names if you want.

THE PARTY’S DATE AND TIME

Add the date, in any format you’d like, as well as the time the party starts. If you have a firm end time, you may spell it out. For instance, 11:00am – 2:00pm

THE LOCATION AND ADDRESS

Don’t forget to tell guests where you engagement party is. If it’s somewhere that everyone knows, such as a restaurant in a small community, you can just name the location. But if it’s at a home, or if you live in a larger community, be sure to include an address as well.

OTHER THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO INCLUDE ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT PARTY INVITATIONS

And these are the things you might want to add to your engagement party invites:

ADD A RSVP-BY DATE AND CONTACT INFORMATION

You might need a headcount, especially if your party is large, or if you’re catering. Adding a respond-by date, and well as a phone number for guests to contact is very smart!

YOUR ENGAGEMENT PARTY HOSTS

Sometimes, a couple throws their own engagement party. Other times, friends or family members host (and pay for!) the celebration. If you have loved one who are hosting your engagement party, it’s definitely appropriate to mention them on the invitation.
